Visitors (Noise and People and Mess and Things)

Visitors.
A house full of noise and people and mess and things.
Dirty plates left
washing up not attempted
somebody elses toothbrushes in the pot in the bathroom cabinet
coats hanging in the hallway that wouldn't normally be there
extra pairs of shoes blocking the front door
over night bags dumped
an extra dog running around
more chairs than normal arranged on the lawn
cushions spread out in the sun
abandoned wine glasses
and empty bottles left from the night before.

A house full of noise and people and mess and things
is the home which we've created
and the noise and the people and the mess and things are our family
with the love
and the understanding
and the being comfortable
with us as we are
is what being family is
...for this is our family
and this house would mean nothing without them.

(haiku)

All the same people -
doing the same things - all at
the same time - Sunday

(haiku)

Girl pulls at very
short skirt - like its going to
cover anything!

The Leaf Blower

The Leaf blower.
A sort of reverse vacuum cleaner.
Is there a more stupid device in all of humanity?
A device which blows but really 'sucks!'
A temporary fix.
Clouds of leaves and dust take to the air
dust storms created
leaves and dust rearranged - moved slightly
blowing it over the fence
passing it on to a neighbour
covering nearby cars
make people cough - then settling back to the spot it took off from.
Is this the best the greatest brains can come up with?
Is this the zenith of human creation?
Or is it ten out of ten for the marketing department?
One of those things you never knew you needed
A glossy shiney "must have
a "come and buy me" gadget?
Really?!

Happiness

Life is an amazing miracle.
...you're only really happy when you don't know that you are.
An improbable result of endless interactions,
...then, when you look back,
at the cause and effect...
...and remember the time that you were happy
there is much to be grateful about.
...and that makes you feel unhappy - as you realize that you are no longer in that happy state.

The Sun

long languid shadows
steam gently rising from hedge rows
the air is still
mist lays across the valley
warm
sultry
rising temperatures
suncream
a cool summer attire
sunglasses to hand
bikinis under t-shirts
shorts and pale legs
loungers and umbrellas
favourite tipples chilling in fridges
ice-trays topped up
icecreams purchased
excited kids
picnics baskets
buckets and spades
fun planned
memories in the making
barbeque charcoal
sausages
burgers
chicken
cooking tongs
chefs hats
(husband's in charge!)
smoke lazily rising
days out arranged
cars on roads
traffic reports
hold-ups
windows wide open
loud music blaring
soft-tops down
summers endless days

...all brought on by the sun
