I wanted to have a go at working out some of the big questions of life for you all - in poetry/prose form.
But I think I will just confuse you even further. But, here we go anyway...
1. The future
Eventual, forthcoming, imminent, impending, planned, and prospective.
Words to describe "the future"
So what is and where is the future?
What colour is it? (let's not go there - one confussion at a time OK!)
Talking about the future gets you all wrapped up in philosophy
the future is very much inolved in the subject of "time"
as the future is perceived to be a period of time ahead of us
"time and space"
"how I experience time isn't how you experience time" - that sort of thing
Now, I'm no philosopher - just a confused poet with too many questions in his head
but as I see it
the future is a construct that never actually exists - think about it
the future hasn't yet happened
yet, when it does happen - when we perceive it to have happened...
it's no longer the future!
it becomes now!
now is the future from 10 years ago
...and now
...and now
...and now - if you get my drift
Modern confectionary.
Those large 'Duo Bars'
On the side say "one now - one for later!"
When is later?
Now?
...now?
...now!
You were always going to eat both pieces straight anyway weren't you!
I believe that the future is not just sat there
waiting for you to wake up - all... preordained
prearranged
predetermined - and other words beginning with 'pre'
like 'The Generation Games' conveyor belt
all full with goodies
for you
all heading your way - if you could only remember them
stretching out front of you
feeding itself to you
day by day
hour by hour - no!
You!
You sat there
you and your actions today
"the here and now"
you can change what the future delivers
the future is like an infinitly sided "Rubics cube"
harder than the normal one
and confess - you can't even solve that one can you
and so it has an infinite number of permutations
now; I know that West Ham won't win the Premiership
speaking as a less than dedicated 'Hammers' fan
and I know that if you don't buy a lottery ticket
it is certain you won't win the jackpot
Does that mean if you do buy a ticket
you will win?
well - only a fool thinks so!
(Remember: infinite number of permutations?)
there is a very very very slightly increased chance you'll win something if you buy a ticket
but remember
what should happen - might not happen
and what shouldn't happen - might
(infinite number of permutations)
the future is a period that has yet to be
what colour and shape it is
is up to you
Try this:
the car that might knock you down if you cross the road without looking
is still in its driveway
your actions
and a small thing called 'time'
has a lot to do with that outcome
and so with your future!
What I do know is that you mustn't wait for the future.
Make it!
I hope that this has confused you further!
and I wish you well
...in the future!
Oh and, don't forget to look before you cross that road
because that car has now left its driveway!
Take care
...in the future!
Thank you!
