to not allow to pass,
to not allow to be absorbed,
to prevent the absorption of a substance,
to prevent the absorption of a thought,
to prevent taking everything on-board
to prevent talking everything personally,
to prevent the internalising of every word or phrase,
to prevent their swords piercing my armour,
their swords piercing my flesh,
their swords piercing my mind,
and my every thought and deed!
