Rain

Rain - sort yourself out!
You're either expected - or you're not
we might be waiting for you start
or waiting for you to stop
we either want more of you
or we want less - but you never arrive in the right amount at the right time
you're either too fine - so don't start properly
or you're too heavy and you smash our greenhouse windows
you're wanted over here - but only fall over there
you either fall constantly
or intermittently - and we go out without a coat and get soaked!
you were most definitely forecast - but you don't show
you surprise us on a trip out
or we water our garden because they promised you weren't coming - then you chuck it down!

Rain!
Sort yourself out!

Despite

Despite having to drive sensibly
despite the chattering of the wiper blades
despite the blurry view distorting everything through the cars windows
despite the grey skies and heavy clouds
despite the splash of the wheels through the many puddles
despite the endless miles of heavily soaked gorse
despite the little streams running down the primrose clad lanes
and the dark skies hiding the wonderful vistas which you can't quite see
despite the moss covered trees soaked in it
despite the droplets on the surface of puddles distorting reflections
despite the need for a coat at the beach
despite the need to eat your picnic sat inside your car and not on a soft warm rug on the sand
despite the days activities being cancelled
and the swim in the sea being postponed - for today at least...

Never mind
for this is Cornwall - and a drop of rain is what makes it so beautiful!

Crows in Graveyards

An intelligent creature is the crow
they know that the type of humans which "live" in a graveyard
won't disturb them high in their trees
and that the other sort
the ones that just pop by
don't seem to stay long anyway!
the crow knows a graveyard is a long established
and secure environment
and as such is well stocked
with many tasty creatures
so they know there'll be lots of their favourite food to eat - which is basically anything!
they also know there'll be places to shelter and roost and discuss the latest topics with mates on nearby branches
and social gatherings aren't likely to be interrupted by the residents below
so the chances of finding a mate are high
which makes it a fantastic place to start a family!
and seeing that crows are a symbol of death
and have been seen gathering 'round dead members of their flock,
as if to learn about potential dangers...
well
...a graveyard seems an appropriate place to find crows in - doesn't it?

The Little People

Politics - politicians!
politicians rule
you think you are in charge of me
so treat me like a fool
you squeeze us 'til our "pips" squeak
you just don't have a clue
with only 24 hours a day
what are we to do
we are the masses
the ones who do the jobs
you call us the "hoi poloi"
and we call you the "nobs"
but we're the countries back-bone
the fixers and the doers
we'd like to see you emptying bins
or working down the sewers
what is it that we get from you
high taxes and higher bills
just a load of misery
to give you all some thrills
as then you sharpen up your knifes
and we get all your cuts
'til we are left with no spare cash
come on - kick us in the guts!
so what's it like being us
let me tell you; it ain't funny
it's not a joke to live this way
too much month at the end of the money
these increases won't effect you
"alice through the looking-glass"
looking down as you whizz by
sipping tea in your first-class
you are running parliament
your hands on the purse strings
you've got options you can take
swanning around like you are kings!

But ..
we are the little people
we who cast your vote to win
listen to us when we shout
or next time
you just
might not
get in

DIS

Discreetly disobey -
your disapproval is disrobed
distil and disown the dishonesty
as - your disbelief is in disarray

Dismantle your distrust in dismay
discard or displace your disposition    a disability is a discomfort
disembark if you disagree

disarm, disable and then - disburse
a disaster disjointed in its disuse
a disgrace is disloyal to disadvantage
you must distil, disinfect
and dis-app-ear

Cardiff Market

The butchers
the bakers
the pizza makers!
A "Full-Welsh" - a mug of tea
that much searched for, lost Beetles "LP"
Kelly's for a wash, a tidy or trim
maybe a snip of that beard for him
A hair shop, for coloured party wigs
apples, pears, a basket of figs
plenty of stools to sit on and spy
on all those shoppers passing by
with pastries, fresh with a fabulous smell
street food in cardboard trays, as well - as
... jacket potatoes, burgers, hot-dogs
stuff for cold winters like kindling and logs
brollies to match a hat and a scarf
a place to catch-up and have a laugh
a glass roof to keep us warm and dry
to hide from grey clouds scudding by.
Come and shop at Cardiff market
fill your car - there's space to park it!
