Down Whose Streets

Cobbled streets,
unfamiliar to us,
yet sounding with the ghostly footsteps
of loved ones long since departed.
These streets we need to explore—
once so well known to them.
The Saturday market, to buy and sell,
and business to deliver.
The cathedral where the Synod met,
convened to discuss
and decide on matters of the church.
Lemon Street—
where our families lived and worked.
Connections we hold to our past,
to those who shaped us,
down whose streets we now walk,
becoming yet another chapter
in our family’s history.
