On A Smart Street

Walk.
Walk on.
Walk on a 'smart' street.
Walk on a 'smart' street and the banks of wireless doorbells track your every move.
Walk on a 'smart' street and vast arrays of CCTV cameras watch over fancy cars on fancy driveways,
as well as watching over you!
On a 'smart' street.

Staring.
Staring at you.
Staring at you because you don't fit in.
Staring at you because you don't wear fancy 'Wellington Boots' that never see mud.
Staring because you're not walking your dogs and talking on your mobile at the same time.
What are they talking about?
Maybe they're talking about you!
On a 'smart' street.

Cross.
Cross the road.
Cross the road on a 'smart' street.
Cross the road on a 'smart' street because a lady makes you feel uncomfortable.
Because you feel that you dont fit in here because those who do make you feel that way.
On a 'smart' street.

Quicken.
Quicken your pace.
Quicken your pace on a 'smart' street.
Quicken your pace because one of those door bells or one of those CCTV cameras might 'grass you up' to the 'neighbourhood watch' and the 'neighbourhood watch' might ring the cops who'll send round a car to take you away 'cos your face didn't fit in on this 'smart' street.

...on a 'smart' street.

Just What They Want Me To Be

Faux leopard print
hair coloured tint
straightend
extented
boobs up-ended.

Tan from a can
lips goo from my hips
plumped and de-rumped
long nails of gold paint
real nails they ain't.

My mobile's 5g
gotta be
online shoppin' for me
brand name hoppin'
no stoppin'
leather thong poppin'
chewin' gum sloppin'.

Tatoo
not a clue
what it says
what it means
it goes with my jeans
my Facebook mate
said great
ain't never met him
cant wait
's like the whole of my deal's not real
when it rains, down the gutter
washed off like some nutter
'see - I'm - not - me - I'm
just - what - they - want - me - to - be.

Leaf spins; caught in a
web. The last autumn leaf fights
a cold winters breeze.

There's Just A Little Summer Left

There's just a little 'summer' left
before my 'winter years' unwind.
The autumn leaves are turning now
my clock within's not far behind.

The days of summer warm and long
spring; the many winding streams.
Fade the memories with the years,
fade the foolish childhood dreams.

Where the friends of childhood now?
Where the trees we climbed so tall?
Though the heart would love to clamber
lifes experience fears the fall!

There's just a little 'summer' left
I sit and think and I reflect
despite my summers having passed
this 'autumn' I must not neglect.
I am the glass of fine red wine
maturing since I left the vine.
Although the 'winter' soon will be...
I've many seasons left in me!

A drip slowly forms
a puddle; sending ripples
across its surface
