Waiting Room - "was that for me?"

A waiting room of OAP's
with doggy hips and dodgy  knees
and walking frames and walking sticks
all come to see what 'doc' predicts
and waiting for the tannoy's chime
...hours past their allotted time!
Blank and distant; worried faces
all of them are 'must see' cases
faces 'judge' and stare hard at
Mum with child in pushchair sat
And teenagers who came with Mum
would rather not; and look all glum
and one who reads the old car mag
and dreams of  buying a 'triumph stag'
and she who knows them all in here
like a social club without the beer!
As TV screen on distant wall
sends messages for one and all
says nothing that we didn't know
except that time is passing slow
and people arrive; and some go in
with strange diseases of the skin
and some will wait and read the 'mags'
and rummage through their shopping bags
and look for stuff to fill the time
whilst looking for a wall to climb -
the tannoy wails like wild banshee
"what was that - was that for me?"
